Coming into high school, I knew I had big dreams that I wanted to accomplish by the end of my senior year, but I knew it was going to be hard to accomplish them all. However, I listed to the Class of 2017 and tried to be really embedded in Cupertino. And it worked! I found my place in ‘Tino and pursued the activities that I really enjoyed. If I were to give any advice to the incoming freshmen class, I would say to be involved in your high school and try to find the things that really complete you. Once you find them, high school will be an experience you can cherish forever.” Nicole Lee, Fremont High School, Class of 2019 Nicole will be attending Stanford University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering "My four years at Fremont have been memorable because of the inclusive environment and the genuinely caring student and staff culture. I came from a middle school that didn’t feed into Fremont, so I didn’t know anyone on my first day. As soon as I walked onto campus, I experienced the true diversity of Fremont. Being part of such an open community with people of different backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities has opened my eyes to so many new value systems. If I were a freshman again, I would tell myself to try everything I could without worrying about others judging me. High school is a time for students to broaden their horizons, meet new people and experience different things; Fremont is the perfect place to do just that.” Govind Menon, Homestead High School, Class of 2019 Govind will be attending the University of Portland, majoring in Mechanical Engineering "The relationships I created throughout my four years at Homestead made my high school experience truly special. The most important piece of advice I would give to freshmen is to be open to trying new things. This means to not be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and be spirited during your years at Homestead. The educational memory that stands out for me is my Introduction to Engineering and Design Class. Throughout the year we completed multiple engineering projects by learning how to design products and eventually create them. Had it not been for this class, I would not have such an interest in pursuing an engineering major and learning more about what it takes to be an engineer.” Patricia Wei, Lynbrook High School, Class of 2019 Patricia will be attending Stanford University, studying Journalism, Computer Science, Sociology and Education "Seeing how passionate my teachers are gave me a love for learning and I want to be as excited as they are about what I do one day.
